About the position

Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full-time Project Engineer II for our Bridgeton, MO facility. In this role, you will be responsible for leading all engineering efforts for one or more projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, self-motivated, and possess a proven track record of effectively leading multi-disciplined engineering teams on both small and large projects. As a Project Engineer, you will serve as the primary interface between the engineering technical team and other departments within the organization, including Program Management, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain. The responsibilities of this position are complex and will require you to act independently while managing multiple assignments simultaneously. Your role will involve ensuring design compliance with all project requirements, reviewing customer specifications, and leading a project team to develop designs that best support these specifications, with cost being a key design variable. You will also provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments, and communicate clearly with manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and customers as required. Participation in the preparation of complex and significant proposals will be a key part of your responsibilities, as well as interacting with technical management and other professionals to coordinate and confer regarding technical activities and progress. You will lead project teams as assigned, support and communicate the mission, values, and culture of the organization, attend relevant engineering and business meetings, and mentor less experienced engineers. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all engineering efforts for a project or projects on time and budget
  • Ensure design compliance with all project requirements
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, leading a project team to develop designs that support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management, and the customer as required
  • Participate heavily in preparation of complex and significant proposals
  • Interact with technical management, other professionals, technicians, and support personnel to coordinate, recommend, and confer regarding technical activities and progress
  • Lead project team(s) as assigned
  • Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings
  • Mentor and coach less experienced engineers
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading an engineering team consisting of multiple disciplines
  • Mastery of technologies and domain knowledge
  • Demonstrated experience with Project Planning and execution
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
