About the position

The Project Engineer II at HP Hood is responsible for managing and executing capital projects within a manufacturing environment. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and leadership abilities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive project success and continuous improvement in production and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering team and operations to plan and schedule capital projects by defining project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management plans.
  • Set milestones and ensure projects stay on track while communicating with key stakeholders.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including contractors, designers, and technicians, fostering collaboration and communication.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Ensure quality standards and project requirements are met, implementing quality control processes through regular inspections.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design specifications and progress reports.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and incorporate feedback into projects.
  • Manage safety programs and procedures to exceed company goals on both leading and lagging indicators.
  • Support continuous improvement of Production, Safety, and Food Safety management systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Operations management responsibility in a 24/7 operation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative spirit.
  • Desire to learn with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong background in engineering principles with a combination of hands-on and analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify problems early and develop innovative solutions.
