About the position

The Project Engineer III position at Amentum involves executing technical engineering duties related to mechanical and systems operations, particularly in the context of hypergolic propellants, cryogenics, pneumatics, and life support equipment. The role requires a fully qualified engineer to independently review, evaluate, and implement system designs while ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. This position is part of a union and offers an hourly pay rate of $59.99.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and implement system designs to support project objectives.
  • Perform engineering calculations, assessments, and studies related to cryogenic liquids, pressurized gases, and hypergolic missile propellants.
  • Assist in developing estimates for Work Requests requiring detailed analysis.
  • Ensure Mechanical Integrity Inspections of hazardous systems are compliant and deficiencies are documented and resolved.
  • Oversee subcontractors during project phases, updating schedules and coordinating work.
  • Perform Process Safety Management functions as required by OSHA and maintain applicable records.
  • Create and edit engineering drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Act as Configuration Manager for critical systems.
  • Prepare Engineering Field Instructions (EFI's) for Field Technicians.
  • Provide technical direction to engineers or technicians for operations, repairs, or troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience; advanced degree is desirable.
  • PE License is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of propellants and related engineering concepts and practices.
  • Background in design and testing of aerospace ground support systems is desirable.
  • Experience with hypergolic propellants, cryogenics, life support equipment, and high-pressure gases is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) is desirable.
  • Advanced experience with MS Office suite and AutoCAD is required.
  • Excellent verbal, technical writing, and communication skills.

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in aerospace ground support systems and facilities.
