About the position
Pearson Kent McKinley Raaf Engineers LLC is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer to join our team in Manhattan, KS. This full-time position is focused on the design of HVAC and plumbing systems for both new construction and renovation projects. The role is integral to ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of efficiency and comfort. The Project Engineer will spend approximately 50% of their time designing HVAC systems, which includes performing load calculations and determining the appropriate sizing for maximum efficiency. This aspect of the job is crucial as it directly impacts the performance and sustainability of the systems we design. In addition to HVAC design, the Project Engineer will also be responsible for designing plumbing systems, which will take up about 15% of their time. This includes considering factors such as sewage discharge, water heating, and piping schematics. The ability to integrate these systems effectively is essential for the overall success of our projects. Furthermore, the Project Engineer will engage with project submittals and requests for information, clarifying project details as needed. This will require strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. The role also involves attending project meetings and visiting job sites, which will account for about 10% of the time. This hands-on approach allows the Project Engineer to communicate plans effectively, address any issues that arise, and incorporate feedback from team members and clients. Responsibilities
- Design HVAC systems for new build and renovation projects (50% of time)
- Perform load calculations and determine sizing of HVAC systems for maximum efficiency and comfort (25% of time)
- Design plumbing systems, factoring in sewage discharge, water heating, and piping schematics (15% of time)
- Respond to submittals and requests for information to clarify project details
- Attend project meetings and job sites to communicate plans, address issues, and incorporate feedback
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field
- Six months of experience using AutoCAD in mechanical design projects
- Six months of experience working on project teams
- Six months of experience leading a team
