About the position

BMWC is an industrial construction company with a rich history of 68 years in the industry, seeking a Project Engineer to join its team. As a Project Engineer, you will be part of a high-performing project team, working closely with experienced Project Managers, site supervisors, and company operations leaders. This role provides a unique opportunity to learn and gain hands-on experience while contributing to the successful delivery of large-scale industrial construction projects. In this position, you will engage in various functions within the Project Controls department, gaining proficiency in essential tasks that are critical to project success. You will also become knowledgeable about the Estimating department's functions and learn to perform tasks related to Purchasing and Tool & Equipment management. Understanding commercial terms and conditions for projects, as well as gaining exposure to craft labor agreements and various contract strategies, will be key components of your role. You will participate in Construction Operations Meetings, perform accounting system functions, and actively engage in customer entertainment to build strong relationships with clients. Safety is a top priority at BMWC, and as a Project Engineer, you will attend Risk Management training to understand the levels of risk the company is willing to accept. You will also learn to conduct safety audits, participate in company Safety Incentive programs, and contribute to daily safety planning activities. Additionally, you will be involved in Quality Action Teams, seeking opportunities for operational improvements, and will assist in the pursuit of projects by understanding the company Marketing Plan. Communication is vital, and you will be expected to report any observations of noncompliance with the company's Guiding Principles and Core Values.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and become proficient in functions within the Project Controls department.
  • Become knowledgeable in the functions of the Estimating department.
  • Learn and be able to perform the functions within the Purchasing and Tool & Equipment.
  • Understand the commercial terms and conditions for projects.
  • Understand and gain exposure to craft labor agreements.
  • Understand and gain exposure to various contract strategies and types.
  • Participate in Construction Operations Meetings.
  • Perform accounting system functions.
  • Actively participate in customer entertainment and develop relationships with customers.
  • Attend Risk Management training to understand levels of risk that the company will accept.
  • Learn to perform safety audits and perform at least one per week.
  • Participate in company Safety Incentive programs and in daily safety planning activities.
  • Participate in Quality Action Teams and actively seek areas where we can improve day to day operations and procedures.
  • Understand the company Marketing Plan and assist in pursuit of projects.
  • Communicate, through the appropriate channels, any observations of noncompliance with the Guiding Principles and Core Values of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • Entry level graduates will be trained, and experienced industrial construction project engineers are also welcome.
