The Project Engineer-Industrial position at UMC is a critical role responsible for managing mechanical construction projects. This position requires effective communication, negotiation, scheduling, tracking, document control, material procurement, and forecasting of costs and profitability. The Project Engineer will work closely with project management to ensure that all aspects of the project are executed efficiently and in compliance with UMC standards and contractual obligations. The role involves estimating and negotiating change orders, tracking quantities for productivity forecasting, and expediting the delivery of major equipment and materials. Additionally, the Project Engineer will maintain a working knowledge of general conditions, work scope, and specifications of project contracts and subcontracts, ensuring that all documentation is controlled and compliant with UMC standards. The Project Engineer will also be responsible for developing and submitting Requests for Information (RFIs) with oversight from project management, collaborating with field labor supervision to plan, organize, and schedule project work, and reviewing contract drawings and specifications. Participation in the AIM processes may be required for specific projects, and adherence to UMC's Safety Program is mandatory, including attendance at all safety meetings. Regular attendance and punctuality are considered essential functions of this role. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Project Engineer may assist in the bid process and the procurement of new work, providing customer service and maintaining client relations while collaborating with other contractors.
