About the position

Ryan Companies is excited to offer a summer internship opportunity for a Project Engineer Intern. This position is designed for students pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering or Management, providing a unique chance to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry. The internship will run from May to August, with the possibility of a Spring Co-op from January to August. As a Project Engineer Intern, you will assist the project team in completing designated projects while focusing on learning the various processes, procedures, and business policies that govern the construction industry. This role is ideal for individuals eager to develop their skills and knowledge in a real-world setting. During your internship, you will gain a working understanding of essential aspects of project management, including budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders. You will also develop a first-hand understanding of job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control, and safety protocols. This position is an excellent opportunity for students to apply their academic knowledge in a practical environment, enhancing their learning experience and preparing them for future careers in construction management.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project team in the completion of designated projects.
  • Focus on learning construction industry processes, procedures, and Ryan business policies.
  • Gain a working understanding of budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders.
  • Develop a first-hand understanding of job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control, and safety.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Construction Engineering/Management or a closely-related field.
  • Able to work 40 hours per week.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least one summer of construction work experience.
  • Have a general knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control methods.
  • Can perform mathematical calculations.
  • Can read and understand contracts, specifications, and architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Benefits

  • Hourly wage of $20-$25/hour, varying based on location and candidate's skills.
