About the position

The Project Engineer at Gilbert May, Inc. is responsible for coordinating construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. This role involves collaboration with design teams, contractors, and stakeholders, as well as conducting site visits, preparing project schedules and budgets, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the design team, contractors, and stakeholders involved in construction projects.
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules and budgets.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure work is progressing according to plan.
  • Prepare progress reports for management and clients.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and procedures on site.
  • Assist with coordinating project budgets and costs.
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Prepare and review project documents, including plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Work with the design team and contractors to develop project plans and specifications.
  • Review and approve project contracts and ensure necessary permits are obtained.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of project documents.
  • Review construction documents for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing subcontracts and coordinating submissions.
  • Develop and maintain project logs and prepare RFIs to architects and owners.
  • Utilize knowledge of commercial construction projects and various software tools to perform duties.
  • Assist in reviews of monthly subcontractor payment applications and document project meetings.
  • Help create material estimates during construction and follow up on work confirmation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Engineering, Construction Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology - Construction Management, or a related field (equivalent foreign degree accepted).
  • Two years of experience in a related position such as Project Coordinator, Construction Engineer, Project Estimator, or Site Engineer.
  • Experience must include two years of use of Bluebeam, P6 Primavera scheduling software, Procore, AutoCAD, OSHA safety standards, construction drawings/blueprints, MS Project, Risk Assessment/Management, Time Impact Analysis, Constructability Analysis, Construction Quality Control, and Value Engineering.
