About the position

The Water/Wastewater Project Manager will lead and manage projects related to water resources and wastewater systems in southwest Montana. This role involves pursuing new projects, overseeing junior engineers, and maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will be passionate about water resources, committed to quality, and eager to contribute to community projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional services for civil engineering projects including design, plans, specifications, reports, project budgets, scope of work, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, and coordination of sub-consultants and contractors.
  • Design and construct water supply and distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Work on multi-discipline projects that include civil, electrical, and architectural aspects.
  • Ensure quality control and quality assurance on all project work.
  • Assist the Project Manager in maintaining budgets and schedules of project assignments and in maintaining quality client relationships and communication.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings.
  • Guide junior engineers, technicians, and other project team members.
  • Gather critical data to assist clients with project financing and funding development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Ability to travel as required for business development and project/client responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Maintain a stellar reputation for integrity, fairness, reliability, good judgement, and aptitude among peers, management, and staff.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in civil or environmental engineering or 5 years of related consulting experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer ideal or ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • Proficient with Civil 3D, ESRI Products, and/or hydraulic or process modeling software.
  • Design work and knowledge with water supply, water resources, drinking water and wastewater treatment and collection systems, utility planning, and other municipal vertical and horizontal infrastructure.
  • Experience leading both internal initiatives and external projects.
