About the position

The Project Engineer for Mobile Robotics at Oceaneering is a pivotal role within the AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) division, responsible for the development, design, installation, integration, and acceptance of AGV system solutions deployed at customer sites. This position requires a technical leader who can ensure that the correct technical solutions are developed to meet customer needs while adhering to project schedules and budgets. The Project Engineer will engage with global customers, necessitating travel to customer facilities for technical working sessions and system installations. The role encompasses the full project lifecycle, from initial requirements capture to final system validation and verification, ensuring that all deliverables meet the rigorous standards expected in complex environments. In this role, the Project Engineer will partner with leaders in the assigned client group to understand the people requirements and implications of business. They will be responsible for engaging all stakeholders to solve technical problems that arise during project execution. The Project Engineer will direct and supervise the deliverables and activities of moderate to large-sized technical teams, including engineers, designers, and engineering subcontractors. They will generate detailed system designs, subsystem specifications, and interfaces to support various engineering disciplines, supply chain management, assembly, and deployment during projects. Additionally, the Project Engineer will proactively manage technical risks throughout the project, including conducting hazard analyses and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). They will interact with customer technical representatives to define and manage customer expectations during project execution, ensuring that all requirements are captured and translated into functional and non-functional specifications. The role also involves writing, reviewing, and executing change requests to document and manage customer business needs effectively. Overall, the Project Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering innovative solutions that meet the challenges faced by customers in both routine and extreme environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders in the assigned client group to understand the people requirements and implications of business.
  • Engage all stakeholders to solve technical problems that arise during project execution.
  • Direct and supervise the deliverables and activities of moderate to large size technical teams of engineers, designers, and engineering subcontractors.
  • Generate detailed system design, subsystem specifications and interfaces to support the engineering disciplines, supply chain management, assembly, and deployment during the projects.
  • Supervise System Validation and Verification; define, plan, and execute performance and availability test activities to ensure the delivered solution meets the customer requirements.
  • Proactively manage technical risk throughout a project including hazard analysis and FMEA.
  • Interact with customer technical representatives to define and manage customer expectations during project execution.
  • Capture customer needs and translate into functional and non-functional requirements by managing the deviation and flow-down of lower-level subsystem and component requirements.
  • Write, review & execute Change Requests: Document and manage customer business needs through refinements, by providing clear technical instructions for engineering & software teams as well as capture the technical scope in a proposal document.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Technical bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of lead engineering experience in complex system deployment and manufacturing.
  • Experience in deployment of AGV or mobile robotic systems or autonomous logistical systems.
  • Proven decision-making ability and leadership skills in a technical environment.
  • Strong time management and analytical skills.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams.
  • Well organized and able to manage large volumes of information.
  • Experience in sub-contracting design and/or assembly/manufacture.
  • Excellent written and oral communications in English.
