About the position

The Project Engineer for MQ-9A Export Programs at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) plays a crucial role in facilitating technical program execution for the MQ-9A UAS. This position involves working closely with program management teams and requires interfacing with international customers, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. The role emphasizes technical planning, compliance, and safety while providing opportunities for professional growth within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates plans and guides the development and implementation of engineering solutions including deployment, resource requirements, testing, documentation, integration, and compliance and safety.
  • Advises or directs the activities of assigned projects/programs to achieve technical objectives.
  • Liaison with functional groups to meet program objectives while monitoring budget and schedule constraints.
  • Represents the organization and program as an engineering technical contact.
  • Coordinates troubleshooting, analysis, and repair guidance for fielded customer equipment.
  • Publishes and presents technical papers and participates in internal and external technical program reviews.
  • Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ensures compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and two or more years of engineering experience with a bachelor's degree.
  • Must have a general understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and theory with technical experience demonstrating the application of those concepts while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Good communication, computer, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading development and integration and test of new technologies.
  • Experience with production oversight, payload integration, and fielding experience preferred.
  • Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) system and operations knowledge.
  • Extensive knowledge in project management practices and principles.
  • Knowledge of DoD requirements generation and military system acquisition processes.
  • Background or previous experience in general aviation, aviation regulations, air traffic management, or pilot experience.
  • Experience with international programs and/or USAF FMS programs.
