About the position

The Project Engineer at Austin Commercial will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating various aspects of a significant $5 Billion construction project in Phoenix, AZ. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the success of a leading construction firm while ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The role emphasizes collaboration with subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers to maintain high standards of safety, service, and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Notifies subcontractors of commencement dates and solicits delivery schedules from suppliers to avoid costly construction delays.
  • Participates in detailed estimating of cost and construction time for proposed changes and may engage in direct negotiations with owners regarding change orders.
  • Prepares submittal schedules to meet construction timelines and coordinates submissions with subcontractors, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Prepares and oversees various project reports, including material logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, and drawing logs as required by owners and company procedures.
  • Assists the project manager in preparing subcontracts and resolving issues related to subcontract interpretation and execution.
  • Verifies monthly subcontractor payment requests and assists in locating suppliers for building materials.
  • Responds to RFIs from owners and subcontractors, preparing necessary RFIs for the project architect or structural engineer.
  • Compiles close-out documents, including as-built drawings, warranties, and service manuals for delivery to the owner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in project engineering or construction management, preferably in commercial construction.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively interact with subcontractors and owners.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools for tracking project progress and documentation.
