About the position

The Project Engineer in the Procurement department at Sundt Construction is responsible for providing technical expertise and support throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves managing construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders, while maintaining effective relationships with various stakeholders. The position offers a clear progression path through three levels, catering to individuals with varying levels of experience in project engineering.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates an understanding of the components of the project management plan (PMP) including project scope, procurement, environmental, time management, financial, quality, safety, and risk management plans.
• Develops a procurement schedule and integrates it with the project CPM schedule, procures necessary materials and equipment, and coordinates submittals with other trades.
• Reviews all submittals for compliance with contract documents and develops an understanding of prime contracts, subcontracts, and purchase order agreements.
• Administers budgeting and cost control processes to ensure project completion within the approved budget, demonstrating business acumen.
• Maintains "As-built" contract documents and compiles close-out requirements, including operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and other job-specific items.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of construction documents, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Ability to respond to questions about drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and change orders.
• Experience in maintaining professional relationships with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Experience in supervising and/or training Field Engineers is a plus.

• Experience on larger and more complex projects for Step II and Senior levels.
