About the position

The Project Engineer - QA/QC at Suffolk Construction is responsible for managing quality assurance and quality control documentation for data center projects. This role involves overseeing document control processes, conducting daily inspections, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations. The position is integral to maintaining high-quality construction practices and fostering collaboration with subcontractors to resolve issues promptly.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing standard operating procedures and processes to achieve the highest levels of quality associated with delivering a completed construction project.
  • Assist with the creation of project specific Quality Management Plans and verify implementation of plan for each project.
  • Assist with the development of Quality metrics that empower teams to review information on quality execution; work cross-functionally with operations to address any trends.
  • Assist with random site evaluations, including follow-up evaluations to ensure corrections have been made to deficiencies.
  • Create mechanisms for sharing best practices and quality issues across project teams and among all quality personnel.
  • Act as a resource for field operations with compliance on Federal and State regulatory requirements as well as local quality regulations including: ADA, ASHE, NFPA, UL, ASTM, and FBC.
  • Assist as needed on developing and updating comprehensive training curriculum for all field operations, Quality Department Staff, and Subcontractors.
  • Stay abreast of trends and evolving best practices by participating in organizations and forums dedicated to Quality. Keep the Company informed of the latest updates on best practices and standards.
  • Represent Suffolk with Owners, Architects, Consultants, Government Authorities, Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Build effective working relationships with clients, trade partners, and the Suffolk project team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, Quality Management or demonstrated equivalent field.
  • 2 plus years of experience in related construction fields.
  • Solid understanding of means and methods of construction.
  • Proficient with computer software used in the construction industry.
  • Working knowledge of national and State code and quality regulations/standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mission-critical construction projects.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and tools.
  • Certification in quality management or related field.
