About the position

As a Project Engineer at Worley, you will be part of the Power Networks team, providing engineering support for the design of substation facilities for voltages up to and including 765 kV. This role involves managing substation design projects, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, and maintaining strong client relationships. You will be responsible for technical management, commercial management, cost control, quality management, and team leadership, contributing to various sectors including transmission, renewable energy, and utility-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead substation design projects in accordance with Worley design standards and client requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSE procedures and document HSE requirements for project participants.
  • Identify, document, and communicate client requirements while managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Effectively manage Worley/Client contracts and commercial aspects of projects.
  • Plan and manage all scope elements of the project, including resource and financial requirements.
  • Prepare accurate project estimates and establish cost reports for project control.
  • Define project quality requirements and ensure compliance with Worley policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the project team, focusing on achieving project milestones.
  • Ensure accurate and timely progress reporting to clients and internal management.
  • Identify project risks and opportunities, monitoring closure of all identified risks.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in substation design.
  • Strong technical and practical engineering skills with a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of local and international standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to formulate project scope documents, establish budgets, and maintain schedules.
  • Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Experience leading multi-discipline teams on substation projects.
  • Substantial experience in electrical engineering within the same or similar industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States or willingness to apply for license.
