About the position

The Project Engineer position at Lockheed Martin Space involves supporting the Production Integrated Product Team (IPT) with flight test support, planning, and coordination related to flight test scope and execution. The role is critical in ensuring the success of the schedule and technical maturity of the projects. As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating with the flight test IPT lead and supporting the planning, organizing, control, integration, and completion of production IPT deliverables and work products within your area of assigned responsibility. This position requires a strong understanding of the program lifecycle and how early achievements can drive future costs, as well as the ability to manage cost, scheduling, and technical scope effectively. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Project Engineer will also support ad hoc tasking, which includes briefing senior leadership on cost, schedule, and technical aspects of the projects. The role is part of the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program, which has a rich history and is experiencing significant growth. Responsibilities

  • Support the Production Integrated Product Team (IPT) with flight test support, planning, and coordination related to flight test scope and execution.
  • Coordinate with flight test IPT lead to ensure success of schedule and technical maturity.
  • Support coordination of planning, organizing, control, integration and completion of production IPT deliverables and work products within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Support ad hoc tasking, including briefing senior leadership on cost, schedule, and technical aspects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with technical leads to manage cost, scheduling, or technical scope.
  • Knowledge of program lifecycle and how early achievements may drive future costs.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Final Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with working with hardware (Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Experience throughout engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test and operational deployment).
  • Lean six-sigma experience.
  • Experience leading/integrating solutions for geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Familiarity with Navy Strategic System Partners (SSP) Customer.
  • Experience with a combination of design, test, operations and systems engineering disciplines.

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
