About the position

The Project Engineer position at Lockheed Martin Space offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) program, which has been pivotal in supporting the Navy's strategic defense mission for over 60 years. This role is integral to the Production Integrated Product Team (IPT), where you will be involved in flight test support, planning, and coordination related to the execution of flight test scopes. As the FBM program experiences significant growth, your expertise will be crucial in delivering innovative technologies while ensuring that technical requirements for strategic deterrence are met. In this role, you will coordinate closely with the flight test IPT lead to ensure the success of schedules and technical maturity. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, controlling, integrating, and completing production IPT deliverables and work products within your assigned area of responsibility. Additionally, you will support ad hoc tasking, which may include briefing senior leadership on various aspects such as cost, schedule, and technical performance. This position not only requires technical acumen but also strong project management skills to navigate the complexities of the program lifecycle and its impact on future costs. Lockheed Martin values flexibility in work schedules, and this position allows for part-time remote telework, enabling you to balance your professional and personal commitments effectively. The work schedule may include a 9x80 format, providing every other Friday off, which enhances work-life balance while contributing to critical defense projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Production Integrated Product Team (IPT) with flight test support, planning, and coordination related to flight test scope and execution.
  • Coordinate with flight test IPT lead to ensure success of schedule and technical maturity.
  • Support coordination of planning, organizing, control, integration and completion of production IPT deliverables and work products within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Support ad hoc tasking, including briefing senior leadership on cost, schedule, and technical.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with technical leads to manage cost, scheduling, or technical scope.
  • Knowledge of program lifecycle and how early achievements may drive future costs.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Final Secret security clearance.

  • Project management experience.
  • Experience working with hardware (Mechanical or Electrical).
  • Experience throughout the engineering lifecycle (system definition, design, build, test, and operational deployment).
  • Lean six-sigma experience.
  • Experience leading/integrating solutions for geographically dispersed teams.

  • Familiarity with Navy Strategic System Partners (SSP) Customer.

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
