About the position

The Project Engineer-Waste/Wastewater position at Tetra Tech involves providing technical engineering analysis and design for infrastructure projects related to water and wastewater treatment facilities. The role emphasizes collaboration within a team, mentoring junior staff, and engaging in technical design and project execution from planning through to final documentation. Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design focused on water-related infrastructure and water resource facilities.
  • Conduct site investigations and inspections, delivering detailed assessment reports.
  • Generate design calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues, and interface with other engineering disciplines.
  • Coordinate projects with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist with project execution from conceptual planning through permitting and final plans.
  • Provide technical design support for water distribution, treatment, and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and standard engineering practices in reports and design projects.
  • Provide construction support services including bid evaluations and plan clarifications.
  • Perform engineering interpretation of specifications and drawings, recommending design modifications.
  • Make independent assessments of engineering problems and recommend solutions to discipline leads.
  • Manage and mentor junior technical staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, or Environmental Engineering.
  • 3-8 years of experience in relevant engineering fields.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Environmental Engineering, registered in Georgia or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.
  • Strong communication, report writing, organization, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and industry standards.
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Revit is desired.
  • Experience in municipal infrastructure design and permitting.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Project).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit.
