About the position

The Project Engineer is responsible for supervising and managing various projects within a chemical plant, ensuring they are completed on schedule, within scope, and within budget. This role involves coordinating with multiple departments, including engineering, production, safety, and procurement, to facilitate smooth project execution. The ideal candidate will possess project management experience, a solid foundation in mechanical engineering, and a comprehensive understanding of the capital project life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Convert corporate goals into capital project objectives.
  • Create detailed project plans including goals, timelines, budgets, and resources.
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of projects from planning to execution and closing.
  • Assist cross-functional teams in defining project deliverables and requirements.
  • Oversee independent engineering and construction firms.
  • Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure project teams have necessary staff and equipment.
  • Provide accurate monthly forecasts.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Monitor project risks and implement contingency measures as needed.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with company policies, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular quality assessments and audits to ensure project deliverables meet required standards.
  • Maintain constant communication with stakeholders, including management, project teams, and external partners.
  • Provide regular updates on project status, challenges, and solutions.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all project documentation, including budgets, timelines, plans, and progress reports.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports on project status and performance indicators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 3+ years of experience in project management, preferably in the petrochemical or manufacturing industries.
  • Self-driven, self-sufficient, and proactive.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent ability to collaborate with individuals from various company functions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
