About the position

The Project Engineer at Flatiron Construction Corp is responsible for monitoring project budgets and estimates, ensuring that all resources are available for production, and maintaining compliance with quality and contract specifications. This role involves collaboration with engineering and field crews, evaluating project performance, and managing project schedules and financials.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineering and field crews to review production schedule and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Review shop drawings, design specifications, and project data to ensure compliance with quality and contract specifications.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risks that could impact budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance and document activities.
  • Update project schedule weekly for reporting to owners and management, attending meetings to present project status.
  • Prepare and manage a three-week work plan, notifying management of significant schedule changes and developing solutions.
  • Initiate and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
  • Remit accurate project quantities using cost coding for financial reporting and manage invoicing with the accounting team.
  • Support the engineering team with quality assurance and review necessary certificates and permits.
  • Participate in worksite tours and weekly safety meetings, presenting field analysis as needed.
  • Assist the estimating team with project schedule, budget, and cost parameters by providing technical input.
  • Assist in the development of design drawings and coordinate subcontractor work methods and schedules.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representatives and field crews at project completion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
  • 3+ years of construction engineering experience required.
  • Experience in resource monitoring techniques and construction technology preferred.
  • Ability to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate delays.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of design build and alternative build techniques.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting methods, quantity tracking, and cost coding.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and assume responsibility.

  • Experience in construction technology, process systems, and structures preferred.
