About the position

The Project Engineer role at McShane Companies is designed for driven, team-oriented individuals who are eager to learn and develop skills in a fast-paced construction environment. This position involves participating in various aspects of project management, including contract administration, estimating, cost management, schedule management, safety, and quality assurance. Project Engineers will gain hands-on experience throughout the entire project lifecycle, contributing to the successful outcome of multi-family, industrial, institutional, and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in selecting appropriate subcontractors and preparing bidding documents.
  • Create bid evaluations, analyze bids, and make recommendations to the Project Manager on subcontractor selection.
  • Write subcontractor contracts and change order agreements for Project Manager's approval.
  • Prepare estimates for new projects, including project comparison estimating and take-off estimating.
  • Assist in the preparation of project schedules and identify project problems with alternative solutions.
  • Prepare job cost reports and Applications for Payment to the project owner.
  • Familiarize with the company's Quality Assurance Program and specific project Quality Assurance programs.
  • Participate in preparing safety measures and programs approved by the Project Manager.
  • Engage in project coordination meetings with the owner or owner's representative and assist in preparing new client proposals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related degree.
  • Zero to two years' experience in the construction industry, preferably in multi-family and/or commercial/industrial buildings.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work productively with others.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, reliability, thoroughness, positive attitude, professionalism, and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to use construction management software such as Procore, Timberline, Bluebeam, CMiC, PlanGrid, Textura, and Field ID.
  • Proficiency in using the internet and Microsoft Office 365.
