About the position

The Project Engineer at Bunge plays a crucial role in the design and construction of new projects, as well as the modification of existing equipment to enhance efficiency and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position involves collaboration with both internal teams and external consultants to successfully complete projects while managing costs and schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and lead facility safety activities.
  • Ensure safety requirements are followed during design and troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Conceptually design and perform feasibility studies for new projects.
  • Develop cost estimates for projects.
  • Create DCF models for large projects.
  • Manage outside consulting engineers and contractors, coordinating project activities with the plant.
  • Develop equipment specifications and prepare construction bid packages.
  • Ensure project schedules and cost projections are achieved.
  • Complete problem solving and troubleshooting as needed by plant management.
  • Catalog and control all Plant drawings and P&IDs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil, agricultural, electrical, or chemical engineering required.
  • 6 - 9 years of experience in plant operations, maintenance, and safety required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCad, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project software packages.
  • Knowledge of design codes and government regulations affecting the industry, including NFPA 36, NFPA 61, OSHA, and EPA preferred.
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Experience managing complex projects valued between $2.5M - $5M.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of industry best practices for efficiency solutions.
  • Experience with risk management and developing risk registers.
