About the position

The Project Engineer at Fuel Tech, Inc. is responsible for overseeing day-to-day project engineering activities, including installation, start-up, and troubleshooting of equipment at project sites. This role involves close collaboration with supervisors and project managers, generating necessary documentation, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with design and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares detailed project engineering designs for small to medium projects, including flow and pressure tables, pipe sizing, instrumentation selection, and pump and control valve sizing.
  • Produces and utilizes engineering drawings and deliverables necessary for project construction, including P&ID, fabrication, BOM, O&M manual, FAT documents, and vendor drawings.
  • Develops RFQ, solicits quotations from qualified vendors, evaluates quotations, and reports recommendations to the assigned Project Manager or supervisor.
  • Generates and processes equipment and electrical/controls purchase orders, coordinating orders and deliveries with vendors.
  • Supervises and monitors equipment fabrication, documenting results of inspections and testing through reports and photos.
  • Schedules equipment shipping between vendors and to customers.
  • Performs field equipment startup and commissioning, preparing logs, records, and reports to document the process and results.
  • Communicates project status through reports, meeting minutes, action lists, and other required communications.
  • Maintains awareness of technical developments and recommends new products or improved sources for goods and services.
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, safety plans, and assigned goals.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills to synthesize information and apply engineering judgment during projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to articulate technical issues clearly.
  • Proficient in design standards and able to generate creative solutions while maintaining documentation and organization.
  • Problem-solving skills to gather and analyze information to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in work, adhering to industry design standards and codes.
  • Good engineering judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities without daily supervision.
