About the position

The Project Engineer will utilize engineering and design skills to manage technical activities in the development and customization of water/wastewater treatment systems, focusing on mechanical design, structural analysis, and systems integration. This role involves coordinating design efforts with internal teams and external partners to meet customer needs and ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring assigned engineering projects.
  • Analyzing and interpreting customer supplied information to design new equipment/systems or modify existing equipment/systems.
  • Ensuring project specifications meet quoted requirements and serving as Project Engineer for the creation of drawings, bills of material, submittal packages, and installation/operation manuals.
  • Developing specifications for the project's needed equipment.
  • Preparing or leading the development of drawings and models based on sketches using standard techniques and CAD equipment.
  • Supporting realization of designs through supply chain, production, and field installation and testing.
  • Ensuring project compliance with applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Meeting with client representatives to establish requirements for new or existing equipment or systems.
  • Traveling to suppliers, fabricators, or other locations for process inspections, factory testing, or reviewing fabrication issues.
  • Preparing and reviewing calculations in support of structural, mechanical, and process designs.
  • Working on CAD and other engineering software to create drawings, calculations, and specifications in line with client needs.
  • Assisting with manufacturing issue resolution and collaborating with shop personnel on continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 2+ years practical experience in mechanical design preferred.
  • Demonstrated 3D modeling software and CAD drafting experience preferred.
  • Experience with water or wastewater treatment equipment preferred.
  • Experience with design for live loads, e.g., seismic and wind loads, desirable.
  • Detailed knowledge of AutoCAD and Inventor or similar 3D modeling package preferred.
  • Proficiency in standard business software including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of ERP & PLM systems preferred.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems and improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma preferred.
  • Experience with Value Engineering preferred.

  • EIT/PE certification preferred.
