About the position

The position at Nucor Steel Kankakee, Inc. involves leading and managing various engineering projects with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to prepare project proposals, negotiate contractor quotes, and troubleshoot plant issues, ensuring adherence to safety policies and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of proposal layout, description, timeline, RFQs, specifications and budgets for capital and other large projects
• Obtain, review, compare, and negotiate contractor quotes
• Updating and creation of plant and equipment drawings, working with document management systems
• Hands-on work with area teams to troubleshoot plant issues, interpret and explain drawings
• Design of small structures and improved parts/equipment
• Knowledge of current codes, regulations, and standards in various disciplines

Requirements

• Four year degree

• 5+ Years of experience in leading cross functional projects, including electrical and civil engineering in an industrial environment
• Mechanical Engineering Degree
