About the position

The Project Engineer in industrial construction is responsible for supporting project planning, design, and management across all phases of construction. This role involves close collaboration with the Project Manager, clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are executed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The Project Engineer plays a critical role in overseeing technical aspects, coordinating site activities, and solving on-site challenges to ensure seamless project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of project schedules, work plans, and milestones.
  • Provide engineering support to on-site construction teams, including interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenses, and forecasts; identify potential cost overruns and propose solutions.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure that work meets project requirements and quality standards; coordinate subcontractor schedules and assist in resolving site-related issues.
  • Oversee quality control processes, perform inspections, and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, and change orders; ensure all documents are current and accessible.
  • Support safety programs and compliance initiatives on-site; identify and mitigate potential safety hazards in collaboration with site supervisors.
  • Analyze and resolve technical and logistical challenges, ensuring minimal impact on project schedules and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in construction engineering, preferably in industrial or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction engineering principles, including knowledge of structural and mechanical systems in industrial projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost-tracking.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges efficiently and make quick, effective decisions under pressure.
  • Works well with cross-functional teams, including contractors, architects, and engineers.

Nice-to-haves

  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) license is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM software, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) is beneficial.
