About the position

SSOE is seeking a Project Engineer to support clients in the Opelika, Alabama area. This hybrid role combines both remote and onsite work, allowing for flexibility while ensuring quality service delivery. The Project Engineer will be responsible for planning and conducting engineering work, supervising less experienced engineers, and maintaining client satisfaction throughout project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard accepted methods.
  • Performs most assignments with instructions as to general results expected, exercising sound judgment to resolve problems, and may receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems.
  • Performs detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
  • Devises new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicates changes to the team.
  • Supervises and coordinates the work of less experienced engineers and designers, checking a portion or all of the drawings completed on the project within the discipline.
  • Participates in client contact and business development activities, meeting with clients to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
  • Writes portions or all of the specifications and assists in or prepares total cost estimates.
  • Develops engineering concepts and presentations, coordinating work with other disciplines.
  • Keeps current on new design methods and ideas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
  • PE or PE-tracked preferred, plus two (2) or more years of experience with SSOE as an Engineer 3 or the same educational, certification, and registration requirements as above with five (5) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s) required.
  • 5+ years technical experience in process engineering and/or providing plant engineering support required.
