About the position

The Project Engineer role involves surveying, designing, and overseeing the installation of metering equipment and data gathering hardware. The position requires the engineer to support contractors during project phases, conduct system commissioning and start-ups, and provide operation and maintenance training. The engineer will also identify areas for improvement in existing installations.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning and start-up of utility grade metering equipment.
• Engineer & design of new or modified advanced metering systems to meet customer objectives.
• Review project, equipment, and proposed design plans to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Conduct on-site surveys/walkthroughs with operating contractors and engineering personnel.
• Conduct lab testing for process troubleshooting or optimization.
• Troubleshoot, inspect, and rebuild existing equipment in the field.
• Compose documentation, procedures, internal memoranda, and reports in a timely manner.

Requirements

• BS (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field strongly preferred.
• Thorough understanding of electric circuits and ability to make decisions based on diagrams.
• Experience using AutoCAD or Visio to create or modify design documents.
• Implementation and support experience with control systems and/or DCS systems required.
• PLC and logic programming, configuration, and support experience required.
• Thorough understanding of network communications and OT cybersecurity concepts required.
• Understanding of control panel design and wiring and plant instrumentation preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with databases and SQL queries, PC/server configuration, thin client systems, and/or VMware.
• Experience in the Energy industries.
• Experience working in an integrated IT/OT environment with frequent collaboration with IT personnel.
