About the position

The position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing capital improvement projects related to water and wastewater facilities. This includes overseeing upgrades to water treatment plants, pump stations, storage tanks, pipelines, and wastewater systems. The role requires collaboration with engineering and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery while managing consultants and contractors effectively. The candidate will also participate in long-term system planning and ensure compliance with technical and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage capital improvement projects related to water and wastewater facilities.
  • Oversee project development, design, and construction of medium and small capital projects.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate Technical and Environmental Health and Safety/Security standards.
  • Manage project expenditures and align them with budget priorities.
  • Drive efficiency in project delivery through monitoring metrics and utilizing alternate procurement methods.
  • Manage environmental and governmental permitting processes.
  • Participate in master planning efforts for existing systems and new acquisitions.
  • Prepare short-term and long-term capital improvement plans for new acquisitions.
  • Assist in developing analysis and reports for regulators and customers.
  • Provide technical expertise on engineering and operational issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience managing design or construction projects.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing water/wastewater projects.
  • Strong project management skills including initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of water and wastewater processes and treatment options.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and reporting skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Hydraulic Modeling Experience.
  • PMP and/or Construction Management certifications.
