About the position

The Project Engineer at Leopardo Companies is a pivotal role designed for individuals eager to advance their careers in construction. This position involves supporting various departments, including Estimating, Project Management, and Field Operations, while gaining comprehensive knowledge of the construction process. The Project Engineer will participate in a structured training program, which includes rotational learning plans, to prepare for future roles such as estimator, project manager, or superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Assist project management staff in monitoring and achieving project goals, including overhead, profit, and client satisfaction.
  • Track critical dates and maintain a detailed master construction schedule using Asta.
  • Obtain necessary permits, insurance, and bonds for projects.
  • Review and process submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs, ensuring timely approvals.
  • Coordinate and participate in various construction meetings, preparing minutes and tracking open items.
  • Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers, generating subcontracts and purchase orders as needed.
  • Maintain project documentation for BIM and conduct model mediation/clash detection.
  • Review LEED construction deliverables for projects seeking LEED certification.
  • Prepare change order documentation and maintain a change order log.
  • Compile project closeout documentation, including as-built drawings and warranty letters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or architecture-related fields, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Prior experience as a Project Engineer or Intern is preferred; field and/or estimating experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of basic construction technologies, including scheduling software and financial comprehension.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints is essential.
  • Familiarity with project management and accounting software; Viewpoint experience is a plus.
