About the position

The Project Engineer at Bodycote is a key member of the engineering team, responsible for overseeing engineering functions related to the coating process at the Hebron, KY surface technology plant. This role involves supporting sales with new product development, tool and machine design, quality control assistance, and failure analysis. The Project Engineer serves as the focal point for all plant engineering projects, ensuring effective communication and adherence to safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project engineering, automation/mechanization, production line design, and construction.
  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment and ability to troubleshoot and understand capabilities and limitations when supporting new business opportunities.
  • Ability to design, draw, and build tooling to support the business.
  • Visualize and build automated equipment, work with electrical systems, and perform periodic maintenance (PM) as needed.
  • Act as an advocate for Bodycote interacting with customers, employees, and communities to drive business goals.
  • Conduct Annual Customer Satisfaction Survey on behalf of the business.
  • Maintain quality accreditation of the facility by at least one recognized authority.
  • Comply, promote, and enforce safety, health, and environmental (SHE) rules, regulations, company policies, and laws.
  • Maintain equipment and facility in an upscale appearance (5S Principle).
  • Promote and practice timely and accurate communication, verbally and in writing to employees, customers, and business partners.
  • Coach, train, motivate, and retain a quality-oriented and productive workforce while ensuring the execution of business objectives.
  • Work in a manner consistent with the Environmental Management System.
  • Perform other tasks as designated by position.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of machining tools and capabilities is required.
  • Ability to read part prints and draw within CAD or Solidworks is required.
  • Extensive fabrication experience is required.
  • Experience managing capital projects and executing projects to completion is required.
  • Five years of work experience in an industrial environment with practical knowledge of ISO and SHE systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills sufficient to coach, mentor, and drive objectives through multi-level employees and functions.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language is required.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
