About the position

MWH Constructors is seeking a Project Engineer to support a significant $300 million large-diameter water pipeline project in Portland, OR. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of pipeline work, which is part of a larger initiative to supply 135 million gallons of water daily to the Portland community by Fall 2028. The Project Engineer will manage various aspects of the project, including contract management, quality assurance, and communication with subcontractors and project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Review requests for information (RFIs) from subcontractors and manage the RFI process.
  • Analyze subcontractor and manufacturer's submittals against contract documents and recommend approvals.
  • Manage the submittal process, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Support Trade Package Project Managers and Site Superintendents in project coordination and communication.
  • Link shop drawings to construction schedule activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist in change management by analyzing proposed change orders and validating cost estimates.
  • Attend routine meetings to track critical issues and drive resolutions to maintain construction progress.
  • Ensure quality requirements are met and documented according to contract specifications.
  • Maintain safety standards to ensure a zero-accident project environment.
  • Document and keep accurate records of all RFIs, submittals, and related correspondence.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering required.
  • 2+ years of experience in project engineering or field engineering.
  • Prior pipeline project experience.
  • Familiarity with reading contract drawings and specifications, and basic construction principles and practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience in the water/wastewater industry or similar industries.
