About the position

The Project Engineer at S&B USA Construction plays a crucial role in managing various aspects of construction projects, particularly in the Heavy Highway and Civil Construction industry. This position involves collaboration with project managers and construction teams to ensure successful project execution, financial administration, and adherence to safety protocols. The role is integral to the company's commitment to innovative infrastructure development through Public-Private Partnerships (P3).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager and Management Team in managing all aspects of a construction project.
  • Participate in developing, maintaining, and revising the project schedule.
  • Manage the relationship and work of assigned sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced Project Engineers.
  • Communicate with owners about various project-related matters and concerns.
  • Demonstrate, communicate, and reinforce all Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage the ordering of materials needed for project execution based on quantity takeoffs.
  • Assist with pre-construction activities such as construction planning and design.
  • Prepare drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders, and estimates.
  • Manage verification of work-in-place quantities for invoicing and payment of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Maintain submittal logs and ensure timely receipt and review of submittals and shop drawings.
  • Assemble construction financial data and monitor costs.
  • Maintain job costing system and update systems to reflect forecasts.
  • Ensure craft time cards are completed accurately and assign cost codes to all purchases and time cards.
  • Maintain as-built drawings and post RFI, bulletin, and ASI as appropriate.
  • Assist with constructability reviews and value engineering functions.
  • Develop, implement, and administer project engineering procedures and documentation.
  • Manage and maintain all safety and quality records.
  • Prepare project status reports and participate in project status meetings.
  • Assist in project close-out activities.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in bridge construction.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Public-Private Partnership (P3) initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Progressive-Design-Build approach.
