About the position

The Project Engineer at General Atomics is responsible for leading the integration, production, and deployment of advanced payloads for MQ-9B platforms. This role involves collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution, from design reviews to testing and customer demonstrations. The position requires a strong technical background in engineering, particularly in systems engineering principles, and the ability to manage complex engineering challenges effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Own a payload as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for integration, production, procurement, and deployment support for MQ-9B platforms.
  • Support design reviews, SIL events, platform integration, new customer demos, software integration, and other related activities.
  • Maintain communication between GA project teams and sub-contractors/suppliers to ensure alignment on requirements and delivery schedules.
  • Lead system level Qualification, Verification and Validation Testing of hardware and software, including deriving and tracking test requirements and generating Test Plans and Procedures.
  • Develop and execute introduction to production plans, including production workflows, manufacturing points, production test procedures, and quality inspection plans.
  • Plan, manage, and execute multi-disciplined project teams to meet cost, schedule, and performance expectations.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a multi-discipline engineering team to resolve complex engineering problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Six or more years of progressively complex software or hardware engineering experience, with at least two years in lead responsibilities.
  • Previous experience in technical leadership with an emphasis on project execution and product innovation.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Payload Command and Control (C2), Radar Systems, Avionics, Electrical Systems, and more.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Waterfall software development lifecycles.
  • Experience with phases of the software development lifecycle from concept development to customer support of fielded systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Product Management, Systems Engineering, System Test & Integration, Subcontractor Management, Proposal Development, and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
