About the position

The Project Engineer at Nova Group, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the Engineering, Fabrication, and Equipment Manager by participating in various engineering and construction tasks. This position is integral to ensuring high-quality standards in military fueling and marine construction projects, contributing to the company's reputation as a leading contractor in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Participate in engineering design and analysis to support civil, structural or mechanical construction
• Create construction/shop detail drawings
• Coordinate between projects and departments
• Build and maintain databases for estimating
• Update As-built drawings
• Assist with engineering calculations
• Participate in the quality assurance program for shop fabrication
• Help solve problems on the shop floor
• Conduct load tests of aluminum manhole castings
• Create and maintain weld procedures
• Review submittals and preliminary shop drawings
• Assist in estimating future work
• Assist in scheduling and schedule updates
• Prepare for audits, SSPC, AISC, etc.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering
• Possess or be willing to obtain EIT certificate and work towards PE license
• Comfortable reading and understanding construction drawings
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Good problem solving skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Proactive in solving problems and finding better ways of doing things
• Willingness to learn all of Nova's production processes
• Good time management and sense of urgency
• Basic knowledge of Autocad 2D and 3D modeling
• Accuracy and thoroughness in work
• General computer skills including Outlook, Word, Excel
• General administrative skills including record keeping and documentation
• Ability to coordinate with other departments
