The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in leading the New Product Development (NPD) of new parts, assemblies, and programs from initial design concepts through to production. This position requires the use of the Minnesota Rubber and Plastics Project Management System to develop project timelines, action lists, checklists, and effective communication strategies to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects. The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing programs within budget constraints while ensuring that customer requirements and specifications are met. In this role, the Project Engineer will lead a cross-functional team to ensure the timely and successful development of customer programs from conception to production. This includes managing project timelines, budgets, and status reporting by monitoring progress on assigned molds, coordinating design reviews, overseeing mold sampling, and reviewing inspection activities and documentation. The Project Engineer will also provide value-added engineering support to both internal and external customers as needed. Additionally, the Project Engineer will support the development of quality and manufacturing plans, which include control plans, First Article reports, capability studies, FMEA documents, and operator work instructions. Participation in the estimating function for new tooling and revisions is also a key responsibility, which encompasses part pricing, material selection, lead times, and some tooling components. The Project Engineer will work across various functional areas to provide necessary support and will evaluate the need for and justify the purchase of auxiliary equipment and services. Compliance with all policies, procedures, and work instructions related to quality requirements is essential, as is the performance of other duties and accountabilities as delegated or agreed upon. The Project Engineer will be expected to communicate effectively and demonstrate teamwork skills with all levels of the organization. This role involves professional interaction and negotiation with vendors, industry consultants, and technical resources. The Project Engineer may also provide work direction to Engineers, Technicians, and other personnel within their area of accountability on a temporary or regular basis. The position requires independent work and the authority to make decisions necessary to fulfill assigned responsibilities, adhering to cost and project guidelines consistent with company policies and philosophy.
