About the position

The Project Engineer at Sterling Industrial, LLC is responsible for supporting project planning, design, and management throughout all phases of industrial construction. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The Project Engineer oversees technical aspects, coordinates site activities, and addresses on-site challenges to facilitate seamless project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of project schedules, work plans, and milestones.
  • Provide engineering support to on-site construction teams, including interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Monitor project budgets, expenses, and forecasts, identifying potential cost overruns and proposing solutions.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to ensure work meets project requirements and quality standards, coordinating schedules and resolving site-related issues.
  • Oversee quality control processes, perform inspections, and ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, and change orders, ensuring accessibility to project teams.
  • Support safety programs and compliance initiatives on-site, identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards.
  • Analyze and resolve technical and logistical challenges to minimize impact on project schedules and budgets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in construction engineering, preferably in industrial or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction engineering principles, including knowledge of structural and mechanical systems in industrial projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to convey technical information effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with project management software and tools, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost-tracking.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, BIM software, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) is beneficial.

Nice-to-haves

  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or PE (Professional Engineer) license is preferred but not required.
