About the position

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Project Engineer to join their Southwest Division in San Diego, CA. This role offers an excellent growth opportunity while contributing to the improvement of the city's infrastructure. The Project Engineer will be involved in various challenging projects, including the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants and significant infrastructure projects like the Gerald Desmond Bridge. The position requires a solid understanding of engineering techniques and the ability to work independently while ensuring compliance with specifications and design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine engineering duties under general supervision.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet construction specifications.
  • Independently conduct walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to ensure conformance with specifications and design.
  • Perform quantity surveys for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in water/wastewater projects.
  • Heavy civil construction experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
