About the position

The Project Engineering Manager at Georgia-Pacific will lead the Project Engineering Team in the Crossett, AR manufacturing operation, focusing on capital execution and project delivery. This role is pivotal in developing a 10-year capital outlook roadmap, executing value-added projects, and ensuring alignment with safety and budgetary constraints. The manager will apply critical thinking to prioritize projects that enhance long-term value for the mill and the corporation.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety through proactive involvement in safety training and adherence to safety policies.
  • Develop the project engineering team by identifying individual strengths and arranging the team for efficient project execution.
  • Encourage lifelong learning and awareness of emerging technologies that lead to value creation.
  • Review project scopes, objectives, and goals, collaborating with the operations team to validate value.
  • Prepare budgets based on project scope and resource requirements.
  • Track project costs to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules and work plans for 1-year, 3-year, and 10-year outlooks.
  • Identify and manage potential risks and liabilities, contributing to risk management plans.
  • Perform quality control throughout projects to maintain standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely payment and issue resolution.
  • Provide consistent project updates to stakeholders regarding strategy, adjustments, and progress.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in project management within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership skills to develop and manage a project engineering team.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to prioritize projects effectively.
  • Experience in budget preparation and cost tracking for projects.
  • Knowledge of quality control standards and regulatory requirements in engineering projects.
