About the position

The Project Field Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing construction activities for large-scale wind and solar projects. This position involves inspecting and monitoring construction work to ensure compliance with design documents, specifications, and safety standards. The engineer will work closely with in-house crews and subcontractors, documenting progress and addressing any deficiencies in a timely manner. This role requires a thorough understanding of project scope and schedule, as well as effective communication with project management and field personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Inspect and ensure the quality of work performed during daily activities on large-scale wind and/or solar projects.
  • Determine that construction work is in conformance with design documents.
  • Review tests and inspection reports to ensure all required tests are completed and communicate failing tests to the Field Quality Manager.
  • Ensure all materials associated with installation comply with job site specifications.
  • Perform basic to moderate surveying and necessary measuring to check line, grade, and dimensions of roadway and structural elements.
  • Plan and conduct daily activities in an organized manner to ensure accurate recording of QC and QA data.
  • Monitor and record all work scope being executed and prepare comprehensive Daily Reports.
  • Prevent deficiencies through preconstruction quality control inspection.
  • Detect and address deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the Field Quality Manager to ensure compliance with QA/QC requirements and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Interface with construction managers to report job progress and coordinate field operations.
  • Assist in compiling information for operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Assist Logistic Management with the receiving and inventory process of materials.
  • Inspect work and manage punch lists for completed work to support quality control.
  • Assist in managing production and extra work authorization logs.
  • Aid in preparing and distributing daily project updates.
  • Participate in the validation process of calibrated tooling and determine calibration status of equipment.
  • Utilize construction management software for quality inspections and documentation.
  • Assist the Field Quality Manager with benchmarking and job book development.
  • Mentor and train Quality Inspectors in their duties.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related degree preferred.
  • High School graduate or equivalent with 2 or more years' experience in related Construction field.
  • Must be capable of completing and passing the local or state certified SWPPP inspector program and have working knowledge of SWPPP project management plan.
