About the position

The Project Geotechnical Engineer at AECOM will play a crucial role in overseeing geotechnical engineering projects, ensuring the safety and longevity of critical water infrastructure. This position involves conducting field explorations, analyzing geotechnical data, and preparing technical documents while collaborating with various disciplines. The engineer will also mentor junior staff and manage project scope, schedule, and budget, contributing to the company's legacy in dam and reservoir engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct construction observations and report on daily construction and field operations.
  • Lead geotechnical field explorations and collect geotechnical samples.
  • Review geotechnical data and perform geotechnical analysis.
  • Prepare draft RFI responses, technical proposals, reports, and regulatory agency permits.
  • Review construction and geotechnical documents provided by the contractor.
  • Develop engineering design skills through field experience and provide construction support.
  • Recognize potential opportunities for additional work within existing projects or clients.
  • Review design plans and specifications for compliance with geotechnical recommendations.
  • May lead staff level engineers on one or more projects.
  • Mentor and train geotechnical engineers.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical/Geological Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology.
  • 7 years of related experience in Geotechnical Engineering projects.
  • Arizona PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Solid understanding of performing and managing field work.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience using geotechnical software.
