About the position

As a Project Geotechnical Engineer at GeoEngineers, you will play a pivotal role in managing some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects in the Baton Rouge area. Our geotechnical team is involved in a diverse range of projects spanning transportation, energy, development, and natural resources. Your responsibilities will encompass planning field programs, conducting technical briefings with field staff, and managing project tasks that include budgeting and client communications. You will also be tasked with performing engineering analyses and preparing comprehensive technical reports, alongside conducting regular site visits, overseeing field explorations, and making construction observations. In your capacity as a project manager, you will be responsible for mentoring and supervising the work of junior staff, ensuring that they are well-trained and equipped to contribute effectively to project goals. Your essential duties will include leading or coordinating the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction observation projects. You will ensure that all work performed aligns with project plans and specifications, adhering to safety guidelines at all times. Additionally, you will assist in training junior technical and technician staff, complete engineering analyses and calculations, and develop moderately complex conceptual models. You will also be responsible for generating technical reports, including routine reports, figures, and tables, while assisting senior staff in completing portions of larger, more complex reports. Supporting project management tasks such as budget planning, field report reviews, and proposal development will also be part of your role, as you manage small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer or geologist as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or coordinate the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction observation projects.
  • Ensure that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications as well as in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Assist with training junior technical and technician staff.
  • Complete engineering analyses and calculations.
  • Develop moderately complex conceptual models.
  • Complete moderately complex spatial analyses.
  • Lead the generation of technical reports including completion of routine reports, figures, tables, etc.
  • Assist senior staff in completing portions of large, complex reports, figures, tables, etc.
  • Support project management tasks such as budget planning, general field report reviews, and proposal development.
  • Manage small projects under the supervision of a certified professional engineer or geologist as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience is required.
  • At least one year of project management experience.
  • PE license required.
  • Professional-level verbal and written communication skills are a must.
  • Valid driver's license required.
