About the position

The Project Healthcare Engineer position at the Department of Veterans Affairs involves planning, designing, and overseeing major healthcare system projects. The role includes managing professional architecture/engineering and construction contracts to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, specifications, and schedules for VA-owned and leased facilities. The primary duty station is the Brooklyn campus, with responsibilities extending to associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs).

Responsibilities

• Perform project planning and design management for healthcare projects.
• Evaluate project requirements based on healthcare system needs and regulatory guidelines.
• Manage construction administration for various healthcare projects, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and forensic analysis for facility systems.
• Guide contractors during construction to minimize impact on patient care operations.
• Assist in medical infrastructure planning and project management for specialized medical facilities.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited institution.
• One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11).
• Proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Knowledge of healthcare industry standards and regulatory requirements.
