About the position

At Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Technology & Digital, we are dedicated to creating world-class immersive digital experiences for our premier vacation brands, including Disney's Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. The Technology & Digital team is responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology and digital-led initiatives across various lines of business, including Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise. This includes initiatives such as MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney! The Lead Technical Program/Project Manager will play a crucial role in identifying, planning, and coordinating a set of related projects within a program to manage their interdependencies in support of specific business strategies across the Commerce Technology Portfolio and Program. This position is part of the 3PO Team, which is responsible for program/project technical project management, project financial management, and program strategy. The role requires close collaboration with Technology, Product, and Design teams to plan and deliver against our strategic objectives. This is a 24-month Project Hire/Internal Assignment and is a hybrid role based in Orlando, FL. The Lead Technical Program/Project Manager will drive program/project deliverables, develop strategic planning and prioritization for S/VP portfolios, and establish and refine deliverables for key finance milestones. The role involves evaluating and aligning the delivery of rationalized and prioritized S/VP program input to forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities, and producing monthly expense and capital forecasts. The successful candidate will maintain a continuous view of resource demand and capacity across the program and partner with Tech & Digital leadership to plan for leveled resource allocation across development and sustainment activities. The Lead Technical Program/Project Manager will also be responsible for fostering partnerships and communication with leaders, Finance, and other related teams to collaborate across projects for deliverables. This includes establishing and maintaining an area's Technology and Digital roadmap, engaging with a diverse set of team members and executive partners to align business strategies with Technology solutions, and managing execution of program/project objectives. The role requires strong business relationships to define strategic plans and product roadmaps, ensuring timely completion of tasks, and leading high-priority matrix projects that require considerable resources and high levels of functional integration. In addition, the Lead Technical Program/Project Manager will conduct program meetings at leadership and executive director levels, develop and manage a project change control process, and ensure all program/project stakeholders receive orientation and appropriate training. The role also involves creating program presentations and reports for executive leadership, program sponsors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Drives program/project deliverables and develops strategic planning and prioritization for S/VP portfolios with their leader(s) and Finance.
  • Establishes and refines deliverables for key finance milestones (Long Term Plan, Annual Capital Plan, Annual Operating Plan).
  • Facilitates evaluation and alignment on the delivery of rationalized and prioritized S/VP program input to forecasts.
  • Identifies risks and opportunities, taking a proactive approach to problem solve and shares reporting & insights with actionable recommendations to Executives.
  • Produces monthly expense and capital forecasts, delivering monthly/quarterly financial & portfolio updates.
  • Maintains a continuous view of resource demand and capacity across the program, partnering with Tech & Digital leadership for resource allocation.
  • Liaison/translate financials and objectives for T&D leaders, business partners, Finance, Sourcing, etc.
  • Recommends prioritization and rationalization decision-making with leaders.
  • Fosters partnerships and communication with leaders, Finance, and other related teams to collaborate across projects.
  • Establishes & maintains an area's Technology and Digital roadmap, partnering with area leaders.
  • Identifies, plans, and coordinates a set of related projects within a program to manage their interdependencies.
  • Develops and implements long-term goals and objectives to achieve successful program outcomes.
  • Coordinates and facilitates delivery of program objectives, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Leads and directs high-priority matrix projects, conducting program meetings at leadership and executive levels.
  • Develops and manages a project change control process as needed to ensure project team operates within the scope of change approval process.
  • Communicates with clients and other stakeholders to gain support for the program or specific projects.
  • Creates program presentations and reports for executive leadership, program sponsors, and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Program/Project management experience (such as: Project Lead, SCRUM Master, Agile Coach) working with technical teams developing enterprise class solutions.
  • Technical project management expertise for a global or national brand(s), working closely with technology, creative, and user experience teams.
  • Hands-on experience with practices such as Agile, Lean, Kanban, Waterfall, and extensive experience with pragmatic blending of styles.
  • Ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects.
  • Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Agile Application Lifecycle Management and development tools like JIRA, Confluence Wiki.
  • Understanding of Agile technical practices, DevOps, and testing concepts (CI/CD, TDD).
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring teams on project management practices including Agile, Lean, Kanban, Waterfall.
  • Experience with budget tracking and complex cost-benefit analysis.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing projects within the program and working seamlessly with various teams and stakeholders in a matrix organization.
