About the position

The Project Lead position is responsible for conducting IT project coordination activities, including project management, planning, monitoring, and status reporting. The role involves leading small operational projects with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and requires building strong relationships across various IT teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct IT project coordination activities including project management, planning, monitoring, and status reporting.
• Lead small operational projects with cross-functional teams to request necessary resources and participants.
• Build strong relationships across various IT teams to facilitate project success.
• Develop and manage project deliverables such as project scope documents, schedules, communication plans, and cost estimates.
• Communicate project expectations and progress to sponsors, team members, and stakeholders through meetings and status reports.
• Identify and manage project milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues, developing contingency plans as necessary.
• Request and manage project resources, facilitating collaboration across IT teams and departments.

Requirements

• 4-7 years of experience leading and managing IT operational projects from initiation to closure, including scope, schedule, tasks, budget adherence, and resource management.
• Proficient at developing and managing project deliverables such as project scope documents, project schedules, communication plans, and cost estimates.
• Experience leading and communicating project expectations and progress to stakeholders through status meetings and reports.
• Experience identifying and managing project milestones, dependencies, risks, and issues, with the ability to develop contingency plans.
• Experience requesting and managing project resources and coordinating tasks to meet project objectives.
• Technical writing experience in compiling formal business documentation in a regulated industry.
• Experience using MS Project to track progress of tasks and deliverables.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, SharePoint, Visio, and WebEx.

Nice-to-haves

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI.
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Experience working at an Electric Utility or other municipality.
