About the position

The Project Leader 1 (Telecommunications) is a leadership role focused on overseeing complex telecommunications projects, ensuring successful execution and profitable outcomes. This position requires a deep understanding of various telecommunication systems and involves providing guidance and training to junior staff and trades personnel. The role encompasses the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning to project completion, while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the design and deployment of Information Transport Systems and telecommunications systems.
  • Establishing and implementing procedures and controls to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Assisting the project Superintendent and Engineering in the preparation of project documentation requirements, project layout, and field office support.
  • Managing Subcontractors related to M.C.Dean's installation scope.
  • Developing and maintaining resource-loaded project schedule in MS Project.
  • Coordinating and running a project kick-off meeting (PKOM) and key monthly project (KPR) reviews.
  • Forecasting cash flow and manpower needs for projects.
  • Working with the project team to develop budgets with cost codes for allocating manpower to the schedule for foreman level tracking.
  • Researching and compiling submittals, identifying/pricing change orders and preparing estimates for projects.
  • Preparing a design/build project estimate based on design criteria.
  • Meeting with customers to present proposals and cost estimates.
  • Interpreting and explaining plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.
  • Conferring with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Coordinating the acquisition of all materials, monitoring tools and equipment requirements with the project team and the warehouse.
  • Overall financial management of the project(s).
  • Responsible to keep the profitability at and/or above budget.
  • Assuring a timely completion of a project including the completion of punch-list items, the submittal of accurate as-built drawings, operation, and maintenance manuals.
  • Responsible for the completion of all training and other administrative requirements of the contract documents.
  • Monitoring project budgets to ensure positive cash flow and to maintain profitability.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost-saving measures, quality improvement and incorporating best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in construction specific to Telecommunications & Security Systems with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science, Information Technology, Construction Management, or Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of related construction experience with a Master's Degree in Construction Management or Engineering discipline.
  • Proficiency in the Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling Method and General Contractor Schedules.
  • RCDD Certification Required.
  • Extensive experience leading diverse teams & projects with construction budgets valued between $500K - $10M+ in Telecommunication Scopes.
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience & established knowledge in complex markets on projects specific to Federal Aviation, & Government Airports, Higher-Education, Information Transit Systems.
  • Required knowledge within construction low-voltage functions including self-perform contracting, field coordination efforts, maintenance of schedule prioritization of deliverable deadlines tied to each specialty-trade simultaneously.
  • Ability to utilize software including Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Accubid, Primavera P6, Microsoft Office & Excel.
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.

  • RCDD Certification is preferred.
