About the position

The Museum Experiences Project Leader is responsible for leading the planning, design, development, fabrication, and installation of exhibits and related programs at the Science Museum of Minnesota. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including content specialists, designers, and community members, to create engaging experiences for museum visitors. The Project Leader manages project budgets and schedules, resolves conflicts, and ensures that projects align with the museum's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of project management including budgets, schedules, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with various directors to identify resources and determine project work distribution.
  • Identify problems and risks, leading the team to develop resolutions.
  • Facilitate communication among project team members, museum staff, and external partners.
  • Manage conflict resolution and decision-making processes to keep projects on track.
  • Create and manage contracts for independent contractors.
  • Articulate project vision and goals to team members and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work of team members and contractors for efficient workflow.
  • Promote a cooperative work culture among project team members.
  • Involve community members in the development process to ensure diverse perspectives are considered.
  • Translate ideas into relevant learning experiences for visitors.
  • Ensure safety, quality, and accessibility standards are maintained in all projects.
  • Support funding pursuits for new projects and services.
  • Facilitate collaboration with program managers for youth and adult programs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a project manager.
  • Proven experience creating products or experiences for museum audiences.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills in translating concepts into relevant content.
  • Proven ability to provide inspiration and leadership.
  • Advanced skills in developing collaborations and partnerships.
  • Experience leading projects and resolving conflicts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities.
  • Fluency in languages other than English, such as Hmong, Somali, or Spanish.
