About the position

The Project Leader, System Design - Development (Operations) at American Woodmark is a pivotal role within the Information Technology team, tasked with collaborating closely with key business and IT leaders to deliver business system design and development that supports critical business functions across the enterprise. This position is essential for ensuring that the systems in place are not only functional but also aligned with the strategic goals of the organization. The Project Leader will leverage their expertise in business operations, application technologies, and critical business data to enhance operational reporting and analytics across various business functions, including Sales, Service Management, Customer Care, and Marketing. In this role, the Project Leader will be responsible for overseeing enterprise architecture, data architecture, integration architecture, and solution development. They will also provide service support, ensure application security, and maintain IT compliance. A significant part of the job involves supporting production systems, which includes analyzing and resolving production problems and addressing end-user service requests. The Project Leader is expected to deliver a high level of customer service, focusing on systems availability, performance, reliability, security, and adherence to established service level metrics. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in Information Technology, particularly in developing solutions within complex technology environments. They should possess exceptional project management skills and the ability to communicate a future state vision that aligns with both IT and business strategies. Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to influence and build consensus among various stakeholders. The Project Leader will also be responsible for driving the adoption of service improvements and collaborating with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure that security strategies are effectively implemented across the team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and improve customer satisfaction and service delivery management.
  • Direct the planning, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the application ecosystem that supports the company's operations and business functions.
  • Recommend and manage the allocation of resources for the planning, development, and delivery of all information systems services.
  • Oversee root cause analysis processes for all related incidents.
  • Manage problem tracking, RCA templates, post-mortems, and action item follow-up, including monthly metrics.
  • Define, develop, and manage a comprehensive ITSM landscape based on best-practice processes and related toolsets.
  • Collaborate with the CISO to ensure appropriate security strategies are applied by all team members.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the full life cycle of design, development, operation, and support of IT systems.
  • Develop the maturity of solutions development and service delivery models to improve efficiency and increase collaboration with other business areas.
  • Drive the adoption of service improvements and commitment towards them.
  • Serve on IT planning and policymaking committees, driving the development of enterprise technology standards, governance processes, and performance metrics.

Requirements

  • 5+ years total experience in Information Technology, including a minimum of 3 years in developing solutions in complex technology environments.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, consumer products, or distribution industries.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems development and project management.
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to develop and communicate a future state vision that aligns with IT and business strategy.
  • Strong leadership, communication, planning, negotiating, and management skills.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in environments where resources may not be directly controlled.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills.
  • Strong business acumen, including industry and domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.
  • Ability to build consensus and make decisions based on multiple variables.
  • Strong sense of self, ethics, and effort, with a willingness to go the extra mile to achieve important goals.
  • Expertise in establishing and improving DevOps and other working practices (e.g., ITIL).
  • Extensive hands-on experience in application programming and complex system integration development.
