About the position

The Project Level Biologist position at SWCA Environmental Consultants involves managing and conducting biological studies and natural resource management. The role is designed for individuals looking to advance their consulting careers while providing technical expertise and leadership. Responsibilities include developing scientific studies, leading surveys, project management, and mentoring staff, with a focus on meeting client needs and ensuring technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement scientific studies related to natural resources.
• Lead biological survey efforts and coordinate project teams.
• Serve as project manager or technical lead on various biological resource projects.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
• Use GPS units and other tools during fieldwork for resource assessment.
• Mentor staff and conduct technical reviews of reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field required; Master's degree highly desired.
• At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in biological surveys and resource management.
• Experience working with scientists, planners, engineers, contractors, and agency specialists.
• Ability to promote SWCA's services internally and externally.
• Experience managing subcontractors and ensuring technical excellence.
• Strong wildlife and/or plant identification skills; familiarity with the Endangered Species Act.
• Excellent writing skills and ability to record accurate field notes.
