The Project Manager 1 position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) involves overseeing the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific projects within the Computing and Information Technology Directorate. This role is crucial for ensuring that projects align with organizational strategies and goals, while also managing resources and team efforts. The position supports fast-paced initiatives utilizing emerging technologies and requires collaboration with various stakeholders to execute complex tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall direction and execution of specific projects, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and goals.
  • Acquire resources and coordinate efforts of team members and third-party resources to deliver projects according to plan.
  • Define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and partners to plan and execute complex tasks.
  • Support the management of tasks within the project lifecycle under the direction of Senior Project Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant project management experience, or a Master's degree and 3+ years of relevant project management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and understandably.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
  • Experience in supporting or executing hybrid events, with proficiency in communication technologies like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work assignments and adjust schedules based on changing requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience supporting a DOE National Laboratory with data processing and visualization.
  • Experience contributing to a project with a major or minor artificial intelligence component.
